Epic Red Nose Day Cycle

13 April 2017

RDL and Kaiser & Kraft joined forces on red nose day last month, to complete an epic cycle in aid of comic relief. The team gathered in Marlow and set off at 9am with the aim of cycling 120kms through and around the Chiltern Hills.

After 10kms of flat terrain following the Wye River towards High Wycombe their first climb took them to Penn, with further climbs to Coleshill and Winchmore Hill. The reward of all the ups was then going down the 1:6 gradient at Kop Hill, the location of one of the world’s oldest motor racing events, the team hit speeds in excess of 50mph at this point. The team then rolled onto the flat lands of the Vale of Aylesbury only to be punished by a strong north easterly headwind, but at least they were approaching their half way café stop at Bradmoor Farm, Haddendham.

Suitably fed and watered, they pushed on into Oxfordshire and the rolling hills of the Thames Valley before a long steady climb from Ewelme back into the Chiltern Hills and Buckinghamshire. The last 4kms downhill to Marlow were welcomed by all and spring sunshine graced their successful completion of 120kms, with some 3800ft of ascent completed at an average speed of 22.5km/h.

The team have raised £345 so far and a big thank you to everyone who has already contributed. The link below is still active for anybody who would like to donate to this very worthy cause:
